HOPE VISITORS CENTER
The Hope Visitors Center is a mixture of what makes Hope, Indiana the historical town that it is. Local town members desired to enhance Hope’s town square, while also maintaining its heritage. A mix of old and new architecture adorns the town square, including this original Irwin Union Bank, designed by Harry Wesse. The challenge of this was to design in relation to a significant modern building while maintaining historic preservation.
This redesign helps to bring the resident, visitor, and creator together to celebrate the culture and heritage of Hope. The Visitors Center includes local community offices, seed bank storage for Bartholomew County, a welcome center, an art gallery, the town’s postal museum, and an outdoor theater. The Visitors Center gives the first impression of what Hope has to offer. The design is innovative, informative, welcoming, and engaging.
